The Belstaff Story
When Harry Grosberg founded Belstaff in 1924, he chose a portrait of a Phoenix rising as the companyΓÇÖs logo to symbolize the importance of continuity through good times and bad.
Belstaff, located at Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England, initially produced waterproof garments for men and women. Grosberg was the first in the world to create garments from a fabric that was completely waterproof, yet breathable. His, now famous, ΓÇ£Wax CottonΓÇ¥ fabric was perfect for the specialized garments needed to protect motorcyclists from the elements and Belstaff jackets became legendary with cyclists worldwide for quality and durability.
As the company grew, so did its reputation. Their original leather biking jacket was worn by stars like James Dean, Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen in the 1950ΓÇÖs and quickly became the style symbol of an entire generation.
Over the years, Belstaff clothing has appeared in over 50 movies and has become a favorite of stars like Tom Cruise, Angeline Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney. Clooney is said to own more than one hundred Belstaff garments.
When Belstaff announced it would offer a line of wristwatches, the company knew that there could be no compromises on quality. After spending over 80 years earning a reputation for uncompromising quality, a timepiece bearing the Belstaff name simply had to be the best.
Attention to detail is a hallmark of every Belstaff watch. Cases are constructed in seven parts using special anti-allergenic stainless steel that has been molded with a ΓÇ£Double FrappeΓÇ¥ system. The stainless steel lugs are screwed to the case and the screw down crown is specially threaded to ensure correct placement of the Phoenix logo when the watch is worn. Inside this case is a 25 jewel Swiss mechanical movement with a 44-hour power reserve, a fine adjustment regulator, and a personalized Belstaff oscillating weight. Sapphire crystals on both the front and back of the watch allow you to appreciate the complexity of this quality movement.
